Surya 108 (English play): 2007 by 3rd batch Yuva Veers and Chennai Chyks.
The seed that grew into the cultural show ‘Surya 108’ was planted on a bright, sunny morning on the way to Pondicherry. Conversation about the impending construction of a temple dedicated solely to Lord Surya, the Sun God, was the fertile soil, and the ever-inquisitive minds of our group discovered the germinating seed and gave it nourishment.
Throughout human history, the sun has always been an object of great reverence, for early man had already recognized that all life depended on it. Sury 108 explores this reverence both in India and elsewhere, by bringing alive the traditions and practices associated with the worship of the sun and highlighting the commonalities in such worship among different cultures of the world. Underlying the religious portrait is a thoroughly scientific perspective on why the sun continues to be a compelling object worthy of respect and reverence until this day.
The Vision: Surya is known worldwide as the visible manifestation of The Supreme Infinite Power. The show aims to promote awareness of Indian Culture and the important role played by Sun (Surya) in leading a life of brilliance, confidence, greater vision and love for the Culture.
The Show: Drama, dance & multimedia presentation.
